He received the Ph.D. Degree in Computer and System Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in April 2008, proposing a dissertation titled “Architecture and Protocol Issues in Pipeline Forwarding Networks”.

Luigi Ciminiera passed away on September 2, 2012. He was the leader of the Netgroup and a renowned professor and researcher, with a strong scientific reputation in several communities (mainly, networking and computer arithmetic). During his service at Politecnico di Torino, he spared no effort: he also served as Chair of the Control and Computer Engineering Department from 1999 to 2003 and as Dean of the II School of Engineering from 2003 to 2007.
